Anyone tried a KME knife sharpener on...
« on: December 08, 2008, 10:38:00 AM »
...a glue-on broadhead attached to a wood arrow? After viewing the video on the KME Sharpeners website, it looked to me as though it might work. I'm thinking seriously about getting a KME knife sharpener and I'm just wondering if anyone has tried it on broadheads already glued to the arrows?

Haven't done it with the knife sharpener, but I use the broadhead sharpener on heads already attached on woodies, and it works great. A little clumsy at first, but not hard to get the hang of.

Centaur, I find that very interesting. Never considered that the broadhead sharpener might actually work with woodies. But I just watched the broadhead sharpener video again and I can see how that might be possible. Thanks.

If you get the stand for the knife sharpener it should work pretty well. I have both and find myself liking the knife sharpener quite a bit for broadheads too.

I use the knife sharpener for my mounted broadheads (I use 25 degree angle) and it works great.

I used it for the 1st time earlier this season.
It works great, just make sure that you have a clear working area around you to avoid accidents when those things get sharp!

Coincidentally, I'm in the midst of sharpening a dozen STOS for an upcoming hunt, using the KME knife sharpener. I have both the stones and the diamond bars and for both knives and heads prefer the coarse diamond bar for starters, then finish with the fine stone; two steps. Since the jig rotates, you only have to reverse each head once (per stone). Sharpster recommends stropping of corrugated cardboard, across the "grain," and believe me it works, with or without shafts. dave

Thanks all for the input. Looks like KME just made themselves a sell.
