Arroyo and Vortex?
« on: December 12, 2008, 12:58:00 AM »
For the sake of curiosity...

What are/would be the difference in a 58" Arroyo and 58" Vortex?

I know the Arroyo is offered in 2" shorter increments and the Vortex seems to have a more "longbow" shelf.  Arroyo=recurve  Vortex=hybrid

Is that about it?

Anyone shot both?

Some people prefer recurves, others like longbows.  Quite a difference between the two but it really is a more a matter of personal preference.  They are two completely different bows.

The Arroyo with the static tips makes for a very nice shooting short recurve without finger pinch, thus is offered in 2" shorter length.

Either bow can be built with higher or lower grips and more or less center cut if you desire.

I have not shot a vortex yet but have had a chance to shoot a 54" Arroyo. What a great little bow...Kevin and Sue make one heckuva bow!

My dad just put a 54"er on order a couple weeks ago.

Best of luck with your choice but either way I do not think you could go wrong.

Not a longbow shooter but I have an Arroyo and a RER T/D recurve both are excellent bows and great shooters.

I have the 54" Arroyo and is a great shooter. I have also shot the 56" Vortex. I needed a short bow for turkey hunting. It was kind of a tough decision which bow to take. I guess it just matters if you want a longbow or recurve. Both are excellent bows and you can't go wrong.

I had both and I think the  58 Arroyo is gonna be a bit shorter when strung than the 58 inch Vortex?A little more weight in the riser too I believe?I would guess the Arroyo is a bit quicker as well?Though I never chronographed either bow.Maybe Whip could confirm this?I dont have the bows on hand to be sure.

I really love the Arroyo.

I've owned a couple of arroyo's, have an rer td recurve and a vortex.  The bows are really nothing alike.  Great bows, but completely different.  Different grip, riser, limbs, amount cut to center.  I'd recommend either, but it depends what you are looking for.  My vortex is 62" and I've had 60", 58" and 54" arroyos.  For my 29+ draw length with split finger draw I really prefer the 58" arroyo and probably shouldn't have sold it.  It was fast, quiet and smooth.

I have a 62" Arroyo , a mate has a 58" Vortex . The Vortex is a sweet bow but the statics set the Arroyo apart for me . I agree with pdk25 - 2 differant bows
