Which FOC ?
« on: December 12, 2008, 11:05:00 AM »
Hello all.
I have a question about FOC. I tuned in two arrow combinations but am having trouble deciding which to go with.

Arrow 1 = 325 point weight and about 14 gpp overall.
Arrow 2 = 225 point weight up front and about 11.5 gpp overall.

These arrows will be for turkey next spring using Woodsman or two blade Magnus broadheads. Shots will most likely be short and in thick cover (twenty yards is a long shot in this area). At 15 yards I don't notice much difference in noise or trajectory.

Is there any real advantage to going to a heavy FOC for this type of hunting (turkey vs larger game)? Any opinions would be welcome.
thanks,
 Tom.

I wouldn't think so.
I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!

Either arrow should do the trick.  've observed on turkey that it's often harder to get a pass through on them than it is on deer.  I think that's because of their relative small size/weight.  When an arrow hits them, it can actually moves the body a bit away from the force of the arrow, reducing penetration.
