Hi Bob. Good to TAO (Traditional Archers of Oregon) website and you can find dates for the Pope&Young Shoot up in Brownsville just north of Eugene. But that is in the summer. Also you can go to  www.shootcard.com  and there will a list of shoots. Several shoots are compound and/or trad bows.  There is one in central Oregon outside of Sisters that I shot last year that is a good shoot. I don't know of any down your way. Might look up an archery shop down there and see if they know of some.  I live in Eugene.

Not a shoot, but the Traditional Archers of Oregon Annual Banquet is at the Red Lion Inn in Eugene next year on January 24th (a Saturday)2009.  (Scary, huh? It is almost next year!)  It would be a good chance to meet some Trad Archery folks in the area and make some stump shooting plans!  Welcome Bob!

Thanks for bringing that up Ron. Heck, I was at the TAO meeting Thurs. night and didn't think of mentioning it.  The Banquet will be from an all day event. There will 3 seminars and the speaker will be Jerry Gowins who we all know as a professional photographer and a regular contributor to Trad. Bowhunter Magazine. It ought to be fun. Like you say Ron, it's an opportunity to meet some you guys. If you need more info. pm me.

Bob,

I moved to Medford last year and the closest traditional club that I have found is in Grants Pass. The gentleman that owns Wapiti Archery also bought Rouge River arrows and he has a traditional shoot/leauge on Fridays in his shop.

Allen Boice of Liberty bows also just moved to Roseburg. You are in some great hunting country.

I used to go to the Brownsville shoot when I lived in Corvallis, and really enjoyed that event, but with directing summer camps for our district I no longer have time.

I believe that Snag gave you some great advice about contacting the TAO, I have to renew my family membership myself.

God Bless and good luck in your search,
Paul

Welcome to Oregon Bob. Our local club will be having it's 3rd annual traditional 3D shoot on Memorial Day weekend in Hood River. Shoot is held up on Mt Hood in a beautiful location with good camping. Come on up and shoot with us!

Bob, our local club in Hood River are the Appleknockers. Yes Tree Killer, we will be having the shoot up at Little John again this year. We cut some new trails last year and are going to open up some new country for this years shoot. There will also be a LARGE traditional archery event happening in Hood River that weekend. Not at liberty to give many details as it will likely be announced in TBM shortly. But between the 3D shoot and other weekend activities it is sure to be an exciting weekend for tradtional archery. Please come up and join us!

There's going to be a LARGE traditional archery event in Hood River, Oregon on the same weekend as the Western States Regional Rendezvous in Idaho? How's that going to work?

Target archery is seeing how far away you can get and still hit the bull's eye. Bowhunting is seeing how close you can get and never miss your mark.
