I had a friend give me an old ben pearson gamester and i don't have any idea what the brace height should be. It is a 56" bow 40@28. Any advice?

There is no "just one" brace height.  The Gamester will function somewhere between 7 1/4 to 8 1/4 inches depending on where it works best for you...the individual.  No two shooters will like the same exact spot.  Find "your" sweet spot between those two measurements and you will be fine.  Brace height is as personal as nock height, string stands, etc.
