Helical fletch position question...
«

I currently have straight fletching on my arrows and will be changing to left helical as soon as my jig arrives.
With helical feathers do i align the front of the feather where the current feathers are or the back?
As in, is the front or rear of the cock feather at the 9 o'clock position? Or the middle?

i posted a similar question in the forum you might want to check out if yoru using a left helical youll have to keep an eye on you rpoints if screw in they will tend to loosen, also fletch will have a left offset (i belive) the back of the fletch stays where it is front will be off to left

Depends on what kind of jig you have. You can move both the front and rear on a Bitzenburger. Overall, you want the front of the feather to be left of the rear of the feather, viewed from rear to the front, on a left wing feather. How much you spiral it on the shaft depends on the shaft thickness/diameter. Need to make sure that the feather contacts the shaft along its entire length.

You will adjust the clamp position so that the fletch stands perpendicular to the shaft at any point along its length. My LW Bitz jigs have the left indexers and put the rear of the cock fletch just to the right of the nock index. I can send some pics of the jigs as I have them adjusted.

I have a Bitzenburger and fletch LW, exactly as Orion explained using the index marks on the jig as Fletcher says.

As long as you don't permanently glue your nocks on before fletching, it doesn't matter. I always wait until after the fletching is done to fine tune the nock rotation and how my feathers orient to the shelf/strikeplate.
Best,
Dave
