« on: December 19, 2008, 10:01:00 PM »
Anybody else from the Houston area? I am on the southwest side in Richmond, where are good places to shoot and are there any good traditional shops in Houston?
Ask me about CTO.

Horneshooter lives in Richmond. Stripstrike1 and I live in Houston. Horneshooter has a range in his yard at Foster Creek Estates. Send me a pm and we can get together and shoot. No good trad shops in town. Viking archery has some stuff and the Gander Mountain stores have a little.

I live in NE Houston/Kingwood. I'm not a trad shooter yet, but I will be any day now.....Waiting on a longbow from TradBowyer to come in the mail.  There is shop in Humble called Sure Shot Archery.  He is both a Trad and Compound shooter, and also a J.O.A.D trainer.  He was very helpful to me, and has a nice indoor range.  They used to have a Tuesday night traditional league, but interest must have waned.

Chester -- there is actually quite a few traditional shooters around Houston.  We have a group that shoots at some of the local area 3d tournaments like Buffalo Field archery, Saltgrass, Banana Bend and MCAC.

There are also a couple of really big shoots that the local guys shoot at like Chester and the Hill Country Shootout

Chester, the guys Bonner mentioned are the ones I referred to in my email to you. So there's a few in your immediate area.  I'm here as well.

Well there are several as Bernie had already told me but I thought that I would see for myself. Yes I just have to be that way. I don't shoot near as much as I would like, but I would love to make that change, so if anybody want to get together and shoot from time to time. Even if all it is getting together at a local range.

Yeah I have been to most of the bow shops in Houston that I can find and Viking is about the best for traditional stuff that I have found.
Ask me about CTO.

Give as a PM.  I would be happy to get together and shoot with you.  We may have to wait till after Deer Season though becase time is precious right now and I still need to kill a deer.
