wool boot covers (pic)
« on: December 20, 2008, 09:52:00 PM »
I purchased sleeping indian pants some time ago at the bargain cave so I could get some boot covers and mittens made it took me some time to finally get around to finding a seamstress. Can't waite to try them out, I had them double layer wool top and bottom with velcro in back to make a easy on/off.    http://s463.photobucket.com/albums/qq354/jandy2225/

You cut up a pair of SI pants to make boot covers?  How do they work?  BTW, Nice buck!

It was hard to cut them up but they were already to small as it was. I only paid 80.00 for the pants. If you look at the price on some of the high end wool boot covers you tend to improvise (lol). Don't know how they work yet, looking forward to try them out, like tomorrow morning. Cold feet was the only drawback to hunting late season, and I'm a leather boot guy.

Those look slick, I think I'll hit up Sportsmans guide for some surplus swiss pants or jacket. I'll do the same deal and stuff them with hand/body warmers. The ones on the market are way to bulky and make all kinds of sounds. Good Job!!

Those are cool! Or uh, WARM!

Are you gonna use them to be silent?
Or to keep your feet warm?
Or both?

The should be quiet for stalking. I have worn wool gaiters for years because they are so quiet going through the brush.
