? shooting a longbow

Just picked up a Person Strata jet. 35 @ 28". My question is do long bow shooters shoot off of the knuckles? I shoot off the shelf with my recurve but what do I do with a long bow?

Most longbows today have shelves but some do not. I am not familiar with your bow but if it does not have a shelf then it can be shot off your hand. I would suggest wearing a leather glove when doing so. The quills on the feathers can get you every now and again.

Is this an all wood bow with no shelf? You can shoot off your knuckle, just make sure the feathers are positoned as to not drive the feather quill into your hand. Some guys just use a leather glove to protect their hands amd give the arrow a rest to sit on.3Rivers has a glove made just for this purpose for shooting off the hand.

It is a Ben Pearson fiberglass bow and it does not have a shelf. Just the grip.
