Snakeskin/Limb-bolt bezel problems
« on: December 28, 2008, 11:01:00 PM »
Has anyone put skins on there T/D limbs and have problems with the bezels messing up the skins after they were tightened down all the way. I'm gonna put some Copperhead on mine and thought maybe I should just put an overlay under my bezels, mine is like the Bob Lee's, 2 bolts. Hard to come by these skins so I was going to take precautions.

I'll be watching this post as I hope to skin my limbs this winter.  Where did you get the skins?
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

The bezels don't turn so they shouldn't tear the skins around their edges.  However, they will compress the skins some, so youi'll see the impressions when you take the limbs off.  But anytime you have the bow together it won't be noticeable.  So it's a cosmetic thing, a matter of what you like to look at -- snakeskin behind the bezels or an overlay.  Good luck.

Maybe you could put some of that adhesive backed moleskin on the back of the bezel, that should keep it from sticking to the skin.

Both road kills near me. I can handle the impressions they are there now, I just don't want the skins too loosen any. If there hasn't been any problems before I will put them under because I think it would be a better look. Thanks  Chris

I'VE SKINNED SEVERAL THREE PIECE TAKE-DOWNS AND NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU LET THE LIMBS REST AFTER SKINNING FOR AT LEAST 36 HOURS BEFORE RE-ASSEMBLING YOUR BOW. ANTLER BURR LIMB BOLTS WITH TEFLON WASHERS MAY HAVE HELPED AVOID THE PROBLEM. IF YOU USE THE BEZELS, I WOULD SUGGEST YOU CONSIDER USING A THIN TEFLON WASHERS BEHIND THEM. GOOD LUCK!
