We've covered fire. How about 1st aid / survival kits?

This is the kit I carry in my pack everytime I go hunting.  I also carry cordage, 2 compasses, knife, mini mag lite and water tabs but these items are in a seperate part of my pack.

This small kit along with the other stuff I have listed is what I hope will work if I ever need them.  I'm sure others have ideas that I have not even thought about so let's hear it.

This is my kit and I carry it in a zip lock.  The pocket knife is for commparison.

Contents are:
Soap, chapstick, Charms candy, Bandaids, 2 books of matches, Cravat for sling or dressing, 2 foldable razors, surgical gloves, alcohal pads, heavy duty tin foil, safety pins, wire saw, hooks, sinker , line, plastic container it'sself and the plastic bag.

I also carry an couple of spike nails and an emergency 'space/mylar' blanket.

I've never been a big one for First Aid/Survival kits, But that little kit of yours is COOL!!!!!  

I've hunted in some pretty remote areas over the years,and I've always felt comfortable with a good fire source,and the "kit" between my ears. I figure between common sense and just dang pure stubbornness,I'm good for at least a week.

My E-kit is very similar except it is held in an aluminum pot (about 1 quart) that can double for a water boiler if necessary.  I has 1st Aid and some rations, including boullion cubes.  Should keep 2 people alive for 7 days if injuries are no too severe and water source is available.

I carry a few first aid items to base camp when I am elk hunting and plan to be out for a week or two.  I have some blood stop powder, feminine pads for compression to stop bleeding, ace wrap, athletic tape, moleskin, several sizes of bandaids, a couple rolls of guaze, suture and curved needles and needle driver, a bottle of iodine for cuts, super glue for smaller cuts, small surgical scissors, nail clippers, tweezers, a hemostat, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, tums, prilosec, pepto tabs, immodium tabs, benedryl, claritin, a zithromax zpac antibiotic, tramodol, nyquil type cold medication gel caps, my regular daily doses of Crestor and baby aspirin, a bottle of bourbon for theraputical applications, vicks rub, vaseline tube, duct tape, a small magnifying glass cause my vision isn't what it used to be to read the small print. Banamine and vet wrap for horses.  Takes a couple of gallon size freezer bags to contain all of this stuff but its in the bottom of my camp box if I ever need any of it.

Band-aids, tylenol, matches and lighter, film canister with vaseline soaked cotton balls, moleskin, athletic tape, hemostat and scissors, extra multi tool, benadryl, tums, garbage bag and toilet paper    some dried soup mix and instant coffee all in a small coffee can that can be used to boil water in a pinch.

I think the spike nails secure his shelter to the ground.

A small metal can with snap-off plastic lid to hold either a beanie or the other items.  The can doubles as a metal cup so water/snow can be heated and pine needles added for tea.

Duct tape:  to bind wounds, make splints, make repairs, etc.
Cotton balls and metal match
800 mg pain killer/day
Two big, heavy plastic bags:  for shelter roof, make-shift poncho, gear cover.
One clear plastic bag for distilling water from plants.
Flagging tape:  Mark trails and locations
Little folding knife, Leatherman scissors.

I use bandages out of my first aid kit at least once every season. Broadheads, knives axes....

the nails tied to each end of a string and worn around your neck - for crossing ice covered water, if you go thru you can use the nails as anchors to haul yourself out.

neat little kit.

you should keep such a kit in a pocket on your person. in a cargo pocket or such. then, keep a bigger, more long term one in your pack.

I carry a small kit with most of the things listed above but the meds have been the most useful.A severe headache or diarrhea can ruin a hunt fast.
