Try Bull Creek WMA, Three Lakes WMA, both in Osceola County as is Osceola Outfitters. The opening weekend is permit holders only but it is open after that, I believe. Bull Creek butts up to the ranch owned by the Kempfers who run Osceola Outfitters. It is creek bottoms and palmetto prairies not pastures like you would find on private lands. Lots of birds but pressure as well. There are alot of birds in the area, maybe as good as anywhere in the world but public land is tough. 300 hunters on about 24000 acres. Thats alot of ears moving towards each gobble.
If you are a serious turkey hunter and really want an Osceola, book with Hoppy at Osceola Outfitters. He is likely booked for 09 so you'll have a year to save up or fly down to give the WMA a try and get a feel for the area. Feel free to pm me about it as I grew up there and still hunt a property adjacent to all the lands mentioned.
