Gold tip/Easton arrows???

Thinking of trying carbon arrows. which size would I need. Mikuta longbow  47# @ 27 draw, My arrows  are 28.5 now with 160 gr tips.
 Thinking about droping down to 125 gr.
 What I'm thinking?
400 in the Eastons
5575 Gold tips


Need other opinons!!!

35/55 goldtips.  The 55/75 will be too stiff.  I shoot the 35/55 out of a humingbird recurve 50@ 28 and I draw about 27 so about 47@27 like you.  You wouldn't believe the difference in how stiff.

get the gold tips from sipsey river, blems are only 39 a doz, the eastons, well i dont know the exact price but it wont be purty

either gt 35/55 or easton/beman 500s with 100grn brass inserts and 125grn points. leave them long, and trim down to tune.

As Woodduck said and I forgot to mention earlier, Gold Tip has a screw in weight system that you can use to add weight to adjust your spine or they have adapters for the nock end so you can also add weight to both ends if you just want to add weight without affecting spine.

Either of the arrows you mentioned will be way too stiff, even with your 160 grain heads. I am experimenting too and have some Easton Epic ST 400's. Full length with 100 grains of lead inside the front end and 145 grain field tips, they shoot pretty well out of my 51# Kanati and 55# Mahaska. I draw a full 28" though.

The 3555 Gold Tips with 100 grain inserts and 145 grain tips need to be full length too. Cut to 29.5, I had to add weight to get them to tune. Cutting a very little from carbons seems to have a huge effect on them, much more than wood or aluminum.

Gary, I shoot my GT 3555's out of my Blacktail 54lbs @28 my Widow 56lbs. @28 and my Whisperstik 52lbs @28. Arrows are cut to 29" and my draw is 27.5". I have a 100 brass insert in them and they shoot any broad heads I own from 100 grain to 160 grains like bullets. I tried the 5575's at first and they were too stiff.

As long as they are the black ones, just fletch one up and play with it. If you don't like them Gary I'll buy the other 11 from you. Also if you've never fooled with carbon's, you will need to use a good 90 minute epoxy on the inserts on them and let them actually sit over night to set or they will pull right out as you are pulling them out of the target. I rough up the insert and the inside of the shaft with sand paper as well before gluing. Yes I learned that the hard way. I also cut them off an inch at the time to find the best length/spine at my draw.

GT 3555, left full length, use the bareshaft planning method and slowly cut the nock end back 1/4" at a time until it works out.
