I have two Widows and a S-Tip. All shoot great however, I think the Tip is more comfortable in the grip area, quieter, and possibly a little faster all 3 bows are 59# at 28 and range in length as follows:TFIII is 60". MAII is 62" and Tip is 64".

All that being said I just Recieved an older 3 pc. 62" 62#@28 Morrison in the mail from a fellow TG'r that blows them all away. Grip is perfect, very quiet, and the fastest RC I have ever shot.

As an added benefit, it's way lighter in the hand than either of the 3 pc. bows. Important to me when covering lots of ground in pursuit on Mule Deer and Elk where weight is a "Big Factor".[I'm old and getting older every day]

WOW Good luck,

My buddy Mike has a Widow, I have shot that bow many times. He had a tip and sold it. A couple years later, he bought a new tip and now hunts and shoots his tip only. He said if the widow was not a wedding gift from his wife "Big trouble if he sold it " He would sell it and buy another tip. After shooting his Widow and his tip in the beginning I liked the tip so much that I ordered a new silvertip. And I have hunted and shot my silvertip every sense . maybe I am missing out but I've taken lumps before and it won’t be the last time I make a mistake. But I still think like the other guys here, go to a local trad event that has both bow and shoot and compare the looks then make up your mind on that. I like eather bow they are both good looking bows, they both shoot awsome, it all comes down to what you like and what feels good in your hand. Like I said good luck and have fun with it.     :banghead:

My 0.02.  I have owned and shot both so I THINK I can be objective in my comparison.

If you have a long draw (29+) AND PREFER a shorter bow, I think you'll find the Widdow more comfortable to draw.  I pull 29" and can shoot a Widow down to 58 inches in length.  A 58 inch Widow does not stack in any way shape or form at my draw.

I had a Silvertip that was a 60 incher.  That bow was comfortable for me to shoot.  NOT as comfortable as the Widow, but comfortable.  I shot a friends 58 inch Silvertip for several weeks.  That bow was not as much fun to shoot as it felt uncomfortable (notice I didn't say the dreaded "s" word) to get to the last inch or so of draw.

I give a slight edge to the Silvertip in performance.  Slight.  Whatever that means.

I'd say if you have a 28 inch or shorter draw, then it's a matter of how the grip feels and ther overall asthetics of each that willl drive your decision.

I shot Widows exclusively then last year I bought my 1st 'tip.Sold all my BW's(except the longbows..they're my favorite)and wound up buying 5 more 'tips
I pretty much settled on silvertip recurves and they're my bow of choice but I wouldn't mind having another TF/PTF V.I really liked that bow alot

You've already got one of 'em Rick.   :D

Between the two, I'd say it'd be really hard to make a bad decision.  As you already have the one, I'd go with the other just to mix it up.

If the budget allowed, I'd do some chasing on the Morrison.  Just my opinion - either way, I'm going to hound you until you give in and let me shoot it.

I shoot Silvertips - I have owned and shot lots of game with widows also. The biggest difference in my experience is that Silvertips of equal weight need more arrow (spine and weight) to shoot clean - which is fine by me - and one of the reasons I shoot them. Widows in a sense are a perfect bow and we do still put plenty of folks on them - especially when they starting out. For arrows of moderate weight widows are stable, accurate and quieter. At our hog camp we have a few members who have bought around ten silvertips in just the last 3 years - these guys too started on widows. And although I still shoot Silvertip recurves regularly I have a silvertip longbow Dave made for me that is the most beautiful bow AND the hardest hitting bow that I own.

I currently have both, a 62", 50# Silvertip, and a 60", 49#, PSAX Widow, and both are fast flight. I enjoy shooting both bows and it actually depends upon my mood as to which one I shoot the most at any particular time. I have owned the Widow since 2004 and I purchased the Silvertip about 1 1/2 years ago from a fellow TradGanger. I hunted with Widows for years and have taken my share of game with one. I hunted this year for the first time with a Silvertip and was quite pleased and successful. I have hunted with both and I have shot 3D tournaments with both and both bows are great shooters. My current feeling is if I am going hunting I will pick up the Silvertip because it is a tad quiter, but if I am going to a 3D tournament to try and win I will pick up the Widow because I am able to consistantly hold slightly tighter groups with it. I believe the Tip has a slight edge in looks compaired to the newer exotic Widows, but in the last few years the Widows are making a move in regard to aesthetics. My advice would be to get one of each because they are both a pleasure to shoot.

Louis

P.S. I also agree with Cory. It appears to me the Tips are able at lower poundage to handle heavier arrows a bit better.

I have also owned several of each. I did like the way the widows shot but just don't care for the looks of them, reminds me of plywood! The one bow I can honestly say that I would really look at would be a blacktail. I am as die hard as it comes to silvertips and hunt exclusivly with them but when push comes to shove and I am shooting competivly for the ten ring the blacktail comes out!
The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't are both right!!!

I've had both.........I would give the Silvertips preference if I had to buy another.
