Which Grip
« on: January 16, 2009, 10:22:00 AM »
I am looking at getting another long bow and I kind of like the look of the traditional straight grip; the bow I now have has a dished grip. I have never shot a straight grip long bow so I was hoping I could get some opinions as to the pros or cons of the straight vs dished grip styles. Thanks.

Of course, it would be better to try one before you buy, but there's very little difference between a dished and straight grip.  After a few arrows one way or the other, you probably wouldn't notice it.  The difference is greater between an indexed grip and straight or dished.

Hello Zinndl,
I personally love a straight grip. I think it gives you the ability change hand positions to adjust to difficult shot positions easier, no bumps or uncomfortable positions with a straight grip. It does, I think, take a little more time to master though. As your hand can't just go to the same place everytime without thinking, like on a locator. It will in time, just takes practice. Just my opinion though.
