Suggestion for new bow for my wife?
« on: January 16, 2009, 06:16:00 PM »
So, for Christmas/Birthday I promised my wife a recurve... but with money being tight now, she wants to wait to order anything custom. I've been looking at used bows, but nothing has sprung her interest.

So, I'm in a dilemma. I could get her a used bow that she could shoot until we can order her new one.. or I could buy her a cheap new one, with the danger that she would lose interest in a rough shooting bow, or I could just try to wait it out and hope money gets better in the next year, but then she's still without a bow...

Anyone own one of the maddog bows? I am considering buying her a purpleheart mid-size bow from here for now too...

What would you do?

Tim talk with Katie. She has a Maddog. For $150 you can have a complete bow for your wife with a warranty.

WHAT WEIGHT BOW ARE YOU LOOKING FOR? ALSO HOW LONG IS HER DRAW? My wife has moved on to a new Hornes long bow and has a recuve you may be interested in.

I agree with Maddog.  :thumbsup:   I did the same thing for my wife, and she doesn't want any other bow.    :archer:   For now anyway.

Bob Morrison has a great idea (as usual), and I would always recommend Bob's bows for anyone, but he probably isn't talking about one of his bows for those prices.    :)

For a low cost and high quality bow, Mike Mecredy's Maddog bows are sure hard to beat. I just got a bow and arrows from Mike for one of my best friend's kids. No one has anything but praise for Mike's bows, especially when they see the invoice! David Knipes knows better than anyone what less expensive options work for the women and youngsters, and he has worked with Mike a lot getting bows for young people in our midst. If David recommends Mike, you know it is a good suggestion. Like David says, contact Katie if you want to talk to a woman who has quite a bit of experience with her own Maddog bow. Just in case you need Mike's website, here it is:   http://tradstore.com/mta/

We'd be looking at something around 35# at 24"...  Maddog is looking pretty good.

And how do I get hold of Katie?  Thanks in advance!

I've heard nothing but good about Maddog.  I would check into whisperstick as well.  He makes a womens bow for a reasonable price.
It's not the arrival, it's the journey.

Tim;
  I sent you an e-mail about a bow that I have that might meet your needs. I'm in Wisconsin, Fox Cities area. If you are close you could come try the bow.

I traded for a checkmate for my wife, and it a very sweet, smooth shooter.  She loves it!
