Cedar Arrow Pictures
« on: January 20, 2009, 09:44:00 PM »
I was about to build some cedar arrows. Instead of dipping a crest I thought about staining the top half of my arrow a different color, say black, or red, with an alcohol based stain and finishing up with 3 coats of gasket laquer. Anyone else tried this? I'd love to see some pictures of your favorite color combinations. I'm itching for some good ideas.

Here's a few.  The yellow crowns on these are all leather dye.  Much easier than paint, and I like seeing the wood underneath.

Wow, those are really sharp looking. I really like the red one in the middle. My lines never come out that straight. I don't have a lathe, so I put them in the chuck of a drill while my wife holds down the button. It sounds comical, but they come out pretty good. Thanks.

You will find here a link where you can find another way to do.

Here are some of mine. The second set from the right is a cap stain, although you can't tell from the pic.

Ben, they are premium PO cedar, except for the red feathers. They are ash. The best shafts I have seen came from the Driscolls but they are no longer in business. I believe they sold the company to Wapiti Archery, and he is supposed to be as good as they were, but I have no first hand experience.
