I lived there from 1976 to 1986. Mostly in King Salmon on the Alleutian Peninsula.
Moose and Caribou hunting was great, but being local I could take advantage of good weather and herd movment. It was very tough bow hunting because most of the shots I got were 100 yds or more. I took 1 moose at 25 yds and 1 Caribou at 15, but I was packing the .338 Mag both times.
Bow hunting can be done, but the success ratio is far from 100%. For every neat article you see in the bow or hunting magazines, there were probably 20 or more went home empty.
Also the hunting is not near as good as it was 20 years ago.
