I believe he means pulling the arrow BACK all the way so the tip is resting on the shelf.??

Cody, Sounds like you have a tuning issue if you get better flight while shooting a shorter arrow with fp's....

Saw a guy pull it past the shelf once, and wind up with the arrow braced against the riser.  It was compound. - as you can imagine the tension on the arrow was tremendous-- but this was nothing compared to the tension created when he started waving it around in a 360 deg. circle so he could show everybody the,"freaky, funny" thing that had happened. Guys were diving into the ground, like somebody had thrown a gernade. Caused alot of screaming/howerling/cussing/swearing/wimpering,etc. Yep, what we had here was a WORLD Class DUFUS.  Didn't have the sense God gave a donut.   Anyway, just don't over pull, you can wind up in some dicy situation.  Youve been shooting like this long enough with out a prob. its unlikely you ever will.  I have known guys that pulled into the shelf a little less than 1/2 and never had a prob.  Not me man, Iam w/Bjorn on this one--I leave 'em long too. Its an old school thing. Don't want to accidently put a Broadhead on one of those short arrows. -Bad things can happen.

using stock arrows, and a 32" draw, it is a normal thing for me.  :saywhat:  .... You just don't use broadheads with sharpened trailing edges...  :knothead:

You could very well be getting better alignment and back tension resulting a cleaner release.

Which would be a consequence of the longer draw, not the shorter arrow, if that makes sense.

But for safety's sake I'd lenghten your shaft an inch but still pull it as far so you are using the back muscles but keeping the point away from the shelf and face of the bow.  I can see a problem if hunting and accidently hitting the shelf with a broadhead or your hand.  Ouch.

My bows feel like rubber bands when the adrenalin kicks in drawing down on a live critter anyway.

Cody I do sometimes, I have some woods cut to 27 1/2 and I pull 28, I have never liked to leave arrows that long so I try to get them to match up at 28 1/2, although if some show weak I do cut them to 27 or 27 1/2 and just use them for target practice. For hunting arrows I try to touch my hand with the back of the broadhead, drawcheck.
