As with many of these kinda questions that get posted here at PowWow, it's loaded with subjectivity.
There is no easy or hard, right or wrong stickbow - there's only what stickbow works best for you, not me, and not them other guys who'll tell their bow is the best thing since sliced bread. And the ONLY way yer gonna figure this dilemma of yours out it is to shoot as many bows as possible.
Go to a trad shoot or trad rendezvous, join a club, visit stores that will let ya try before ya buy, seek help from trad archer friends. There is no other way to properly help figure out what bow's gonna work best for you. Anything else will be a crap shoot of sorts.
Heck, if it was that easy to buy the perfect stickbow, you'd never see ANY bows for sale at the classifieds. Right?
But, some opinionated words that may be of help in your stickbow quest - hybrid longbows offer a taste of both the recurve and longbow worlds. Hybrids have the increased speed afforded by r/d limbs, the added measure of narrow limb stability, and the quietness upon release as there's never a hint of string/limb slap.
Once a stickbow style seems to gather yer fancy, deciding on draw weight and overall length come up next. Don't overbow yerself, but do get enuf horsepower to down the game yer gonna hunt. Get a bow length that'll fit yer draw length and hunting venues (i.e. - maybe a bit shorter for tree stands).
More important than the bow is the arrow. In terms of weight (the 10 grains per pound of bow draw weight is still a good rule of thumb), durability, and how well it matches yer bow and you.
