what adhesive do you use to back a bow?
« on: January 27, 2009, 03:49:00 PM »
i have only done one bow.. a glass backed bow with bull snake. I used titebond 2 or 3.
Does anyone use Barge Cement to skin their bows?
Can't remember for sure, but think it was on 3 rivers website where i thought i read they recommend barge to apply skins with?

Barge cement is a contact cement.  No opportunity to move the skin around/reposition it if you get it a little off line as you're laying it down on the limb.  IMO, Titebond works much better.

Titebond 3 is that way too go.  gives enough time to work but doesn't take all day to set and hold the skin in place.  Give it a week to dry and you are ready to sand and finish.
