Need Bear Hunting Recommendations
« on: January 28, 2009, 12:23:00 PM »
Hey all,

My wife, some buddies and I are kicking around the possibility of a bear hunting trip in the next couple years.  Everone but the wife shoots traditional gear and her range if pretty limited even with a wheelie bow due to low poundage.  There would also be some kids along but none of them would be hunting.

Are there any recommendations for guides, outfitters, or possibly even DIY hunts that would be geared towards trad hunters and families?  I have never been bear hunting but it is something that I want to do.

Caleb,
I'm looking into the same thing as you are.  I had a past topic with some pretty good advice if you want to try and find it.  I beleive it was titled something to the effect of "looking for a good/budget friendly bear hunt".  I've been researching like crazy on the internet and as you know bear hunts, especially canada, or a dime a dozen.  If I find some good ones I'll let you know.

James

Thanks vernon.

Yeah i started on the web and was overwhelmed.  It doesnt even need to be in Canada for me.  I am just looking for a place we could go, have fun, family friendly, good chance of success, and most importantly on a working mans budget.

I would recommend that you contact Jason Lambley's Hunts from the Heart.  He is a Nebraska boy, strong family man, and has a lodge within a 10-12 hour drive from Omaha straight up I29.

His brother, Bryce (Wary Buck) will probably come on to promote Jason as well, he can tell you how his hunts have gone.  If you e-mail Jason he'll get you a catalog right out.  Seems like his hunts would fit you nicely...

Good Luck

The Lambley boys are top notch and know what you need to get close to a bear with a bow.
Reasonable too.
