Bernardini Mamba?

Have anyone used a Bernardini Mamba riser?
Its an ilf riser similar to the Titan or the Dalaa risers, but 19" so more suited for long armed people.

Excellent riser. I missed out on one recently. The black ones would be well suited for hunting with the proper set-up. You can also get a 21" Dalaa riser from three rivers for less money though.

Hoyt is also coming out with a new 21" ILF riser called the Excel. Advertised for beginners or short draw archers for the FITA crowd but it would work very well for anyone wanting a mid length ILF riser.

I just got a 23" version and it is a great value. Suggested retail of $180 from anywhere that sells Hoyt.

I know that you ask about the Bernardini. I haven't shot one. I'm not trying to turn you off of that if you want one, just offering another alternative if you are interested.

Can you get different rips for it? I never much cared for slabs.

  I've seen some pics of different grips for the Bernardini. But, I don't think that it accepts most standard options like the Titan does. I believe the pic I saw had a custom Jaeger grip on it. I think the owner sent the riser in so it could be made to fit correctly.

The Mamba & Cobra are nice risers but are cose to $600 new. I'm not sure they're any better than a Dalaa or a Titan.

Jager makes grips for the Mamba, no problem.
The riser is expensive though(it better be good), but it looks abit better on this side of the big pond. It would cost me about the same as a Titan. Besides, @17" the Titan is pretty much ruled out for me.
The Hoyt Excel, although even uglier      is a steal at less than 1/3 of the price...

Since i have access to all sorts of used and discount ILF limbs as all the juniors in our club grow up, im silly to not get an ILF bow soon.

Anyone know what weight limb i would need on the 21" Excel to get to 45 or 50#ish at 30" of draw? maybe 36#?

You'd probably need 36-40 pound limbs for your targeted weight. Didn't see that you're from the other side of the pond. Those Mamba's are pricey over here but you probably get a better price.

I don't know about the Excel being ugly. I kinda like it compared to the some of the other new risers. I think it has nice lines.

You gain one pound for every inch of riser length under the marked limb weight/riser length. IE 40 on a 23" riser would be 42 on a 21". The limbs usually draw 2#s per inch so at 30" would be 46#.

They'd be 42@28 and 46@30 for most brands.

Yes, I have a 23" Excel. From what I understand the 21" risers are made on the same machine and haven't been shipped yet.

I'm shooting Samick Extreme limbs on this riser. They were a custom set and are 58# on a 23" riser (I have to check them on this riser). They have a lam of wood like the Extreme BF's and are quieter than most foam/ carbon limbs. The string on mine has one set of puffs and it's not bad. I haven't done any other silencing tricks to it yet. I've owned a DAS, Titan, Sheep, Gamemaster, and shot several other ILF risers. It is pretty quiet. I'm sure that I can get it hunting quiet with little effort.

Thanks for the information Chris, I have been thinking about getting one also(the Excel).   I was curious as to being able to adapt it for hunting.  Preferring longer bows I was looking at the 23" riser too.

the excel looks ALOT like the dorado?? maybe Hoyt wants us to think it wont handle heavy weight, thats why its marked as a beginner setup?

How far past center is that Hoyt Excel cut? Or how thick a sideplate do i need to shoot it off the rest?
Any tips for setting it up greatly appreciated.

I bought one, 21", it so cheap you cant go wrong.. It seems to do excactly what the Dalaa or Titan, or Mamba/Cobra does at 5-600$, for 150$.
I also got a pair of "used" long W&W Winact (70"/38#)limbs, and a 4" hunting stab, for like 100$. It should make one blazing 250$ bow.

Reason is a want to keep a practice bow in the garage, and i dont want a poor wooden thing to reside there, in all kinds of weather, on the sea almost.

I had longbow limbs in the picture.

Since the picture was taken, I replaced the grip with the original and mounted recurve limbs on it. I also padded the elevated rest because the riser is cut way past center. I like the way it shoots now.
