21st Century Saturn Longbow
« on: February 01, 2009, 02:29:00 PM »
Below are some pics of a 21st Century Saturn longbow that I received yesterday. The bow is new to me, but has been owned by more than one person before me. It is 62" and 47#@28". It is a great shooting bow.

The Saturn is very smooth, very quiet and very quick for a 47# bow shooting a 584 gr arrow.  The riser has a piece of snakeskin glued to the grip which makes the grip feel like it has been checkered.  The green snakeskin matches the riser pretty well, too.

Thanks.  The bow has the Buddy grip with the typical 21st Century D/R limbs.  One difference is it uses a reverse taper in the limb which results in a reflexed appearance at brace instead of a D shape when the reverse taper is not employed in the 21st Century bows.

Yes, it should work quite well in the early season here in the Lowcountry of SC and in the pines during the late season.  Actually, I'm not sure it will matter much in any season.  It has a good blending of green colors and black.

One of the arrows I shot out of the Saturn was the GrizzlyStik Sitka.  They shot like darts out of the bow.  The owner of The Archery Shop bought 3 six packs of arrows already made up by Kustom King.  One of the six packs was for himself, a second six pack was for another customer and the third six pack was unclaimed.  I just called him and claimed them.  I will be shooting Sitkas this Fall when I go hunting.  They are great flying arrows and they pack a punch!  Below is a pic of the Kustom King GrizzlyStik Sitka arrows.  It is the only color combination they offer.  It is the finest shooting carbon arrow I've ever shot out of a bow.

Bill I've shot 21 C for years. I've bought and trade all manner of bows but never even consider selling or trading my 21 Cs  You will love that bow.

Joe,

Thanks!  I've only shot it one day and I'm already in love with it.  It is sort of plain Jane compared to some of my other bows, but it is for sure a good hunting bow.  I won't be afraid to take it in the woods!    :)

Nice one, Bill!  I had one back in the 90's and they are very good performers.  Kinda' like that color, too!  If you ever decide to sell your 'green machine' I'd be very interested.

Enjoy the Saturn Bill!

Question:  what length are the GrizzlyStik Sitkas that you are shooting and at what draw length?

Thanks and shoot straight, Shinken

Shinken,

The Sitkas I shot Saturday were 29" BOP and I was shooting them at my draw length of 28".  I hope this helps.

Thank you for the update Bill!

Would like to try a Sitka arrow some day, but until then I will still be launching wood.
