Eclipse 4 blade

Anybody shoot these? I saw the article in Traditional Bowhunter a couple issues back about the Eclipse company and it looks like they make a pretty dependable head. I need some input on how these perform. The only review i've been able to find is on 3rivers and the guy didnt have much of anything good to say about them. Any input is appreciated. Thanks-Trey

I used a 4 blade Eclipse broadhead to shoot a big Australian hog and it worked like a charm.  Went right through the caked on dry mud and 1.5 inches of fighting shield on each side of the ribcage.  Also shot an 1100 pound Bison with one.  They are as good a broadhead as you can get and better than most.  It will take a little effort on your part to sharpen them but that is half the fun.  Joseph

Eclipse have always been excellent broadheads. Very tough steel and they fly very well too.

Now that Blake has greatly improved the factory grind they're even better because it makes sharpening them a breeze compared to the older ones with the coarse grind.

Can't find a bad word to say about Eclipse.

Thanks for the info guys. will i be able to use a 125 grain steel adapter with these or will i have to use brass inserts to get the weight up? I worry about the long adapter interfering with the bleeders. anybody use long adapters with these?

I am not sure how long your adapters are but you can use a fairly long adapter with them.  Just do a dry run with one and if it is to long start grinding the tip until it fits with the bleeder.  If you have to take some off it shouldn't be much.

Kid, the bleeders on the Eclipse are intentionally set farther forward than most others to allow longer tapers or adapters.  I have some on a 100 gr steel adapter but haven't tried a 125.  I'll check it and get back to you.

Sorry SlowBowin, i meant to say 100 grain adapters in my post. I'm trying to get the 145 grain head up to 250 grains with adapters and bleeders. I guess you already answered my question. Thanks for the input and insight so far guys but I have one more question. The guy in the 3rivers review said in order to keep the bleeders in place he had to glue them in or else they would slip right out of the ferrule. Is this consistant with any of your experiences with this broadhead? Sorry for all the questions and again any insight is greatly appreciated.

I'll still need to check, because I might have clipped the tip off on the adapters, I don't remember for sure.  :help:   The Eclipse bleeders are farther forward than most though.

You'll have no trouble getting the weight where you want, the heads tend to run a bit heavy.

Like other heads with this type bleeder, they will come right out when you pull the head back.  I use extra Ferr-L-Tite on the end of the adapter to lock them in.

I've used Magnus 4 bladers for years and usually all you have to do is heat the bleeder a little when it's in place and it will pick up a little ferrule cement (if that's what you're using)... much like Slowbow mentioned.

I appreciate the help...i think i'm gonna give these a try this fall. SlowBowin, i know you offer these heads and inserts on your website. You wouldnt by chance mount them for extra charge would you? i've never been very good at mounting two blades and i imagine it gets a little more tricky when bleeders come into the picture.If not i'm sure i can figure it out  :knothead:   thanks-Trey

Trey, just for you to ponder I did check and the 100's are about 1/8" too long, even in the Eclipse.  I used the 100's anyway and cut the tips off mine.  The brass insert adapters would easily fit in any weight you want as they are shorter, we've got those in 75, 100 and 125 if you shoot standard internal component carbons.
