Aluminum 2117's?
« on: February 12, 2009, 07:49:00 PM »
I know nothing about aluminum or carbon arrows and was given some 32" xx75 2117 aluminum arrows and was wondering what spine they are? Thanks in advance.

Jesse, they spine at #78 on my tester. In a Gamegetter they call them 400's.

Thanks Eric. I had 175 grains up front and they hit left and high out of my 72#@ my draw tip so can I put more weight up front to get them heavier or would that makem to weak?

Jesse
Are you right handed? What length are your arrows cut to?
I think a 2117 from your 72# at your draw length bow would be to weak.

Outwest is right, no matter what your drawlength is, 2117 is too weak.

The weakest spined aluminum arrow I shoot with a similar weight in front are 2219s. My drawlength is probably a little longer than yours but I usually shoot 2317s and even 2419s.

Taking into consideration a different bow, different string, silencers, different style, etc. it still sounds weak to me.
May your next adventure lighten your heart, test your spirit, and nourish your soul.

Yeah, cut at 30" with 125 up front they'd be close, but at that length/weight too weak.

I cant cut them to 30" on my tip with my draw I need them closer to 31" or my heads hit the riser. I may just have to fletch them up and find a new home for them. Thanks guys.

I shoot 30" 2117s with 125 grain points from my 55# recurves and they fly great. At 570 grains, a bit heavy for my liking, though...

Their spine is .400, about the same as Carbon Express Carbon 4560s/250 size...
