American Excelsior Co. in Dallas- Fort Worth I believe could help you, possibly tell you of a distributor in your area. Phone 1-800-777-7645. The last time I tried to get one the shipping was expensive. Have you tried baled shredded paper? A club I used to belong to used them with good success if you cover the top and sides with plastic they last a long time. check with a paper recyler in your area for these. Ben

never though of that. I was looking for the bales here in Virginia because the shipping was more than the bale. they weigh 75 lb. or so I think.

Do you want it as a backstop of to shoot at? A carpet bale would last one or two trad shooters a lifetime. If you just want something behind in case you miss try to find some old conveyor belt.

I got three from the above company about two years ago and three of them about 5 years ago. Since my first 3 they had closed their plant in PA so they had to ship them all the way from Texas as I remember. By the time I got them they cost about $100 a bale. However, they really outlast the Blocks and other targets that go for half the price but last only a short time. If you have the money and can afford the investment I'de do it again, myself.

Ken, funny you should mention that. I recently started working in a custom casket shop and excelsior is what we use for padding too. They are heavey bales. Shipping would definately cost more than the bale itself...
I haven't tried it as a backstop myself, but that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it. If I can get a few bales at cost, I'm going to give it a go.
