Arizona january muleys
« on: February 20, 2009, 12:08:00 PM »
Hi Folks
I have a couple of questions for you.
I had a very reputable guide in az. tell me to hunt  the 36 units.
This was three years ago.
My questions are is it safe to hunt there alone
which it looks like i will be doing.
Is bivy hunting an option.
My two usual partners keep backing out on me
So Im going alone.
I like that country.
Thanks
Ron

Those desert units are bad for illegal aliens.  I would not go down there alone or without "protection"

I hunted the border area alone at the end of January several years ago, saw lots of illegals and burned-out, stolen cars, saw good numbers of both mulies and coues deer plus javies, but wouldn't do something that stupid again.........

I won't hunt those units anymore.  Too much drug running. Heard too many stories from friends who have been down there lately.  If you go, wear a pistol and no game and fish officer will give you grief for it down there.

Is that a draw hunt? I might be interested. I have a friend who is a cop in Stillwater that is wanting to do a bivie hunt out West.

We put in for N.M last year but didn't get drawn. Three pistols are better than one.  :D   He's one of the best pistol shots in Oklahoma if not THE best. He bought a Bob Lee recurve last year while in Iraq and may be up for a trad mulie hunt.

Shoot me a pm with the details and lets see what happens.
