Look at the way my son shoots
« on: March 15, 2007, 12:36:00 AM »
Has anyone every seen someone shoot with 2 fingers?  Should I make him start using 3 fingers?   He shoots pretty good this way.  I am looking for some input.
He is shooting a Bear 48 Mag W/Skin-Ez Canbrake limb covers.  It is 50lb@28.  He is 8yrs old and pulling around 23 inches.   On the scale it shows about 30lbs @ 23 inches.   Not bad for a little feller.   Maybe next year he can pull 35lbs so he can deer hunt with it.  (35lb min. in Indiana)

Oddly enough, my son was shooting with two fingers also around that age.  I taught him three and he got a whole lot better.  Might be worth teaching him as it will help him as he goes up in weight.

I shoot two under and have never had any problem. Been doing it for a couple of years now and have found that I've eliminated string torque and rolling.

Three fingers isn't the only game in town.

I've shot 2 fingers split for about 25 years, no problems. I make my own tabs from scrap cowhide.   :D

voodoofire1 shoots a 90lb longbow 2 fingers and swears it helps his shooting . what ever works let him find his own shooting style if it works for him dont change it may mess him up some .

I teach lots of kids and you would not believe how many ways that they can shoot a bow.  three fingers would be helpful and eaiser to learn when young.  there is hardly anything that can't work but the normal things are usually easier to do

The boy has great form.  Looks  like he's on a  good  path.
