Butler Island Spud hunt today
« on: February 25, 2009, 10:51:00 PM »
Took the Wife to Darien today to the "outlet" mall. We loafed a bit then as part of the "deal" we road over to butler Island on Altamaha WMA. It is bow only for Rabbits this time of year and a neat place. OLD rice fields with dykes to walk on.
Anyhow there was water birds everywhere..

How bout this old wagon wheel with a tree growing around the spoke. This was on a really small rise that had ruins of a building on it..

Lake Lizards was out in force even though it was 40 degrees last night and about 55 today while I was hunting.

I managed to get two shots at spuds. One at about 5 yards in some briars and another at 23. Drilled`m both. A fun day but pork is on the menu the rest of the week.RC

RC as always great story & pictures.  I'm headed down to Aiken on Wednesday for 10 days...glad I sent my snake boots down in the horse trailer.  We don't have many of those belly crawler/slithers here in New England especial with a foot of snow still on the ground  :)   Doc
