« on: February 27, 2009, 09:29:00 PM »
i just picked up another savannah today and have heard that the factory strings leave a lot to be desired.  what is a good string for them?

I like a padded loop D97 for my Savannah's.I make a 12 strand with 16 in the loop ends and serve with .024 Halo. That combo gives me the nock fit I like.I always like to make a new string for any bow I get, even if they are new.I bought one Savannah new when they first came out and didn't even use to original string. It makes a good solid and quiet bow string with a couple of whoolie wisps or cat whiskers.Mine are 55# and 65#,I think they are fine shooting bows, love the grip on them.

we now have 2.  are they ff compatible?  i am considering getting some better stings for them.  50 and 55 on the 2 i have.  the new one came with 2 factory strings, so i already have a collection for them including one we had made last year at the HH shoot.  if i keep the new one i am definately getting a sting built for it.

The Savannah's are FF compatable,I think the factory string was Brownell Ultra cam I heard which is close to BCY D97.I like to pad the loop for I think it helps in to quieten the string by making the loop ends a larger diameter spreading the load. That may be wrong but it is just the way I like to make my strings.

we have put a tomahawk string on my dads bow and he is happy with it.  i will get one made for the one i have now.  it is not my primary bow, but i want to try to set it up to shoot some.  who makes good aftermarket strings for them or will the tomahawk string be good as any?

Hey guys, saw this thread and came in.I got a Savannah for X-mas,#45@28 then the other day coming back from a pig hunt I stopped by Gander Mtn. to just wander around and saw a Savannah there on close out #55@28, for $300,didn't really need it but couldn't pass it up!Problem was they couldn't find the string that was supposed to come with it!So now I have two Savannah's and one string.Read your posts and ordered the T- hawk strings from 3 Rivers.I thought about getting B-50 but the factory string seemed to shoot well enough, think the T-hawk strings will be better?
