Snakeskin Backing Question
« on: March 03, 2009, 10:36:00 PM »
I am thinking about putting a snakeskin backing on my Thunderstick MOAB, but before I decide,I have a few questions I hope someone here can help me with.

First, how well do they hold up, especially nearthe tips, from sliding the string on and off when stringing the bow. I shoot this bow a lot, and it is my main hunting bow.

Also, how durable are the skins overall, being exposed to the elements while hunting?

In adding the skin, will it affect the performance of the bow, by either slwoing it down, or would the extra layer make it stiffer?

I  tried those vinyl fake skins, but took them off as I thought they were too shiny. I want to put either a Diamondback or Timber rattler skin on it,but I'm still hesistant.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
...stood alone on a montaintop, starin out at a great divide, I could go east, I could go West, it was all up to me to decide, just then I saw a young hawk flyin and my soul began to rise......

I spent a day with JD learning about snakeskins...what a day.

  Snake skin with Whisper Stik

I really like the look they give a bow...he I believe rubs finish into the skin once applied and then thunderbird epoxy's over it with a few finish coats.  I'll ask him how it holds up.
