All most again, maybe next week
« on: March 05, 2009, 09:41:00 AM »
Well i almost broke 200 on the video screen at the local archery shop. Man i get close but just cant close the show. Started out well had 78 by round 10 got cocky around 20 an missed a head shot on a coyote going for the bullseye (thats the shot that cost me)had 199 at round 29 an the last shot round 30 was a dam roadruner about size of a pea, yep i missed, hit the bottom edge an it called a miss. I was disappointed again. Seems i`m all around high 180s an mid 190s i really thought i was going to get it this week maybe next. This is a lot fun if any you guys have never none this, you should it also fun for kids

Well, I'd pretty much call that a 200.  And thats why I force myself to resist the head shots even when I'm darn sure I can make them.  I feel for ya man!

Its alot of fun, i`ve just wondering how most trad guys score? I would think braking 200 would be a great bench mark at least is for me. My hunting buddy an I are shooting on a league to keep us tuned in the off season while preparing for a elk hunt in sept.  It gives us a excuse to shoot each week... Thought i would post on this side an maybe get a little more response. Thanks feel free to post ur scores if anyone is shooting regularly

shooting on a video screen? is a target picture projected onto a target or how does it work? you shoot from the same distance? sounds interesting
There is more to the Hunt.. then the Horns

Are you shooting the DART system? I used to shoot the elk vids on DART. Nice big kill zone. I broke 200 on it one time years ago. The guy didn't even charge me 'cause he said a fellow with a recurve that can shoot over 200, his fee was on the house. I was just in the zone that night. I wish he still had it(DART). Don't know anybody that does anymore though.

Hey Andy,

I'm not sure what system Hattrick is shooting on, but I expect it is similar to the one at our local archery shop.

The room is 10-15 feet wide and around 25 yards long. At the far end is a HUGE movie screen. Videos are projected of animals. We can choose what type of hunts to shoot, all white-tails, North american big game, varmits. I like the african safari hunt (I never can hit those baboons though). With ours, up to 3 shooters can shoot at a time.

You have to use special mushroom shaped points (of equal weight to hunting points) so you won't poke a hole in the screen. When an animal walks out and presents a good shot (there are no rings or dots indicating the vital zone or the best angle, just like real animals), you draw and shoot it! Right there on the screen. After each shot (or round) our system shows where the hit was, the speed of the arrow, and gives a score based on location of the hit. The system we shoot on penalizes your score for a bad hit.

I bet there is a system somewhere near you. We used to shoot a couple times each week. I think it was 6 dollars for 15 mins. or 10 dollars for half an hour. Bummer for us is, it has been broke for several months and the shop owners are having a hard time getting it fixed.

It is the most fun you can have indoors with a bow as far as I am concerned.

Doug now thats PRETTY COOL...Same thing  Dart system its a newer version they have come along way,but this one no score for bad hits or min score for body shot. My buddy an i are the only ones shooting sticks(longbows) every body else is shooting compound. The scenes are random from road runners to moose an Africa of every size game, every weeks different. Tradtusker you should try it if you get a chance it fun,you just need alum or carbon shafts so you screw in the tips

I meant head shots on small game.  Besides being unethical the program will count a head shot on a big game animal as a miss, but not so with small game.  Problem is if a rabbit is on the screen I can't help but go for the "bullseye."

FINALLY BROKE 200!!!  TONIGHT 201 tobe exact, but i will say this, i got robbed on a head shoot(bullseye) on a turkey called it a body an bullseye on deer counted as a miss.. I was in a bad mood tonight when i got there an i went for broke , 5 or 6 bullseye`s 3 were head shots on small game an  i only miss twice all though was more like robbery. I hope i`m not bragging too much cuz thats not me normally. Just finally hit my bench mark its bin along time coming bin close with a 199 an bunch of high 180s an 190s. Thanks for reading
