Bare Shaft Testing ?

When bare shaft testing carbon arrows, how do you keep you insterts installed when pulling the arrow out of the target.

Use hot glue, a piece of plastic wrap between the insert and the shaft, or a tiny drop of super glue to hold in the insert. Use a bag target or a sand pile so the arrow can be removed easily without pulling out the insert/field point. If you are using parallel walled shafts, use removable nocks and cut from the nock end so you can permanently glue in the insert ahead of time, thus allowing no possibility of it pulling out. Don't do that on tapered shafts. Only cut from the front of tapered shafts.

Install the inserts as normal. If you want to cut the shaft, pull out the nock and cut from the nock end.

How can that work if you are using the gouping with fletched method and need to cut both fletched and bare?

I use low temp hot melt - heat the point lightly to remove to cut shaft. Done 100's myself and my local shop has done 1000's - never damaged a shaft or lost an onsert if prepped correctly.
