in aussie we call it damper. even simpler recipe.
*self raising flour or plain flour with baking soda.
*pinch of salt
*water, or milk, or beer. (beer is good, acts as a levener)
mix together to a dough. minimal kneading.
though it straight in the coals and cover, or
place in a floured camp oven and cover in coals, or
cook on a stick as shown earlier with the bannock.
the best with butter and golden syrup!!
should turn out like this

Guyzer, Do you have a twin brother that lives in North Pole AK. Looked at your pic before looking at your location, I thought you were one of my friends from AK. Showed the pic to my wife and she said, "Hey that's Robbie." Scary look alike.
