Is there a way to tell if a string is made out of dacron or FF?

Some FF type string material is thinner than dacron, and less prone to fraying, but not all. I can tell by shooting it, but not always bby looking at it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I can smell the difference! I know that sounds crazy, but I can. Alot of strings over years of twisting!

Try to get a loose end to come up where it's braided before the loop. Take a pair of scissors and try to cut the loose strand. If it cuts easy it's B-50. Tough to cut and it's high strength.

Do as Hatrick discribes and you will know....The scissors will kind of roll the string and B-50 will just cut cleanly but only assumeing if the scissors are sharp...I use barbor scissors that are thin and I always clean up those strands that hang loose out of the twist....It is really up to you if you like those strands hanging out and as the string stretchs you may notice those strands may need trimming again...There are other ways to tell but I also can tell by the feel of the thread...God Bless, Keefers <")))><

Thanks guys, I'm still trying to figure out how they smell different, my wife is going to think I lost it if she sees me smelling my strings, but the beeswax does smell good.

Secure the string in one end, fx a peg in a wall, and a screwdriverhandle or something similar through the other loop and pull. If it gives, its dacron.

Both work great cutting with a scissors or stretching the string, but dont do like I did one day and fly on your butt like I did stretching a string I just had made.
