Those of you that cap and crest aluminum arrows do you apply a clear coat of anything to protect the paint.

I add a layer of spray-on craft sealer. Works well, and makes for a durable seal...

I use Minwax fast-drying polyurethane (clear gloss) spray. Also found that when I fletch. the superglue gel makes a better bond than without the spray. Saw it in an article in TB about spray painting caps and crest. works good for me.

I don't put anything over the cresting.  I rebuild the arrows every year or so, so it really doesn't matter if the cresting wears some.

I use wraps, nothing over the top of them. You can wrap and fletch in about 15 minutes per arrow using fletch tight. You could probably use fletch tape and be done in unter 5 minutes per arrow, but i haven't tried that yet.

I do not put anything over the fletch lac cresting yet. I got brave and used gasket lacq. over the fletch lac on an alum. the other day. It worked and does not run the crest. I knew that from doing it like that on my woods for over a year now. My concern was the area of bare shaft I might dip. Well it dried on the bare shaft kind of rough, not smooth like over the paint. I used Ducco to fletch and have shot the arrow with no ill effects. I used Fletch-lac thinner to remove the over dip on bare shaft. Not brave enough to do a whole doz. yet
