Either way legally you cannot shoot any where in NJ except a range. That's mean no stumpin.

If you dont have to do it...dont      :knothead:
On public land.. You can stump on private land. [/b]
Your right Sal..I shoulda noted that. However, not all of us has nor can get private land in this sorry a** state.
I don't mean to sound negative, but NJ is an awful state when comparing it to others IMO.
I've been here pretty much all my life. But have seen and lived in other states while in the the marines and just recently moved back (don't ask thats a long story). So I do have personal experiences to compare my opinions by.

What ever you choose Ssamac good luck to you; if you do come to NJ just try and make the best of it.

Thank the Great Spirit I'm Moving back to Tejas... Jersey does have some nice deer. You just have to hunt harder then most do in other states.

Sam, that would be as close to the perfect world as you can get. If Your Company is willing go for it! Like Larry -Recurve50LBS said if you live in Morristown there is Black River Wildlife MA . They have Hunting and a Range. Keep us informed> There are alot of us here willing to help.meet, greet, and show you around. Good Luck with your decision. AND if you choose to come out MAYBE during the Illinois Arcery season you can tale a few of us back to hunt some of those Monster Bucks!! bentpole >>>~~~~>

I lived in South Jersey for 5 years.  Coming from Nebr. it was different, but some things were very nice.  I really love the Jersey woods and the weather is very agreeable.  You have some of the most liberal deer seasons in the world and tons of quality public ground.  In my part of New Jersey, you could shoot all you wanted in the backyard and even hunt within walking distance.  I had a nice archery club nearby where I first learned the basics.

There are many things I won't miss about NJ, but there are times I do long for my old hunting spots and some of the new ones I never got a chance to try out.  The state is not all the same.  Do some searching and you'll find areas that are very unJerseylike.

I've never hunted in any other states (grew up in florida as a kid but moved when I was young) but I only dream of leaving this state!

Some parts are nice but its a trade off...to hunt nice woods expect more people than deer and to hunt heavy populations of deer be prepared to use your ninja shoes to hunt backyards and small pockets where you pray a car doesn't hoit your deer before your arrow.

I have a pretty nice setup feel free to conract me you can swing by my place to shoot or hook up with pdk25 and myself to go shoot.

You guys are great. I have lots of talking to do to people yet and will try to work out the best thing I can. And why not come out to Illinois and shoot. It is good hunting. Funny, but I hunt most in MO on my friend's farm which is a half hour away, but IL still is good. Here's the thing: I work from home and I can open the side door and shoot targets while I talk on the phone for business. It's that easy. I'll never get that kind of setup in Morristown.  Many thanks for the kind words, advice and invites. Who knows where this is all going to go?

thanks

sam

I have nothing to add about what NJ is like now. I still have a soft spot for it though. I spent my teen years there in Randolph in the 70s, which is'nt far from Morristown (my father worked in Morristown). I got the archery bug there and took my first deer there. My brother still lives down there in Columbia. I've not been back in years, and from what I hear I would'nt recognise the place from how I remember it. About every other kid I hung-out with bow or gun hunted back then. I'm sure there is at least a few gun clubs in the area that have an archery range. Good luck whichever way you decide.
