arrow spine calculation
« on: March 22, 2009, 03:09:00 PM »
I need to know what weight arrows to purchase.  I shoot a chekmate falcon that draws 44 lbs at 24 inches.  I draw 26 inches with one inches overhang for broadhead clearance.  I am looking for wood shafts and plan to shoot a 125 grain snuffer.  What spine weight shaft do I want?  Thanks in advance!

Go to the Morrison site-there is a spine calculator there to help you. Probably one at the ACSBOWS site too.

What are you shooting now, and how do they fly?  My first guess is 50-55 lb.  If you are shooting a FF type string or the Falcon is cut a little past center, I'd add 5 lb.

Check out the Dynamic Spine Calculator thread.  This is a very nifty tool.  For wood arrows, I find I need to add about 5 lbs AMO spine to what it says, but it is very helpful.
