Moose Hunting Eastern half of Canada
« on: March 24, 2009, 04:10:00 PM »
Who's going Moose hunting in the eastern half of Canada? Where are you going, Who are you going with (Guide) and have you been there before? And, did you have FUN! This has been on my "to do" list for awhile. Think I need to start laying down plans for next year.
Thanks.

Rock, I'm going in October. It's my first time but my cousin who is going too has been there before. They have taken moose both times they went during archery season. This year they are going during gun season so I will be the only bowhunter with seven gun hunters. The outfitter is Triple R Outfitters. It's a do it yourself hunt . I can't wait !!!!!

Rock,I am also going in october. It's a self guided hunt and it's only a 10 minutes drive from my house. After that, it's a long hike in the woods but that's the way I like it.It is a bowhunting zone only.I have been scouting and have founded good rubs from last season.I can't wait!!!!!!!!!

I moose hunt in Ontario and the hunting has been excellent that being said we have hunted in our area for a long time and know it very well. The problem is that most outfitters are good for rifle hunters but not that great when it comes to bowhunters. Before you put any money down do a lot of research and ask questions. Ask for names and phone numbers of hunters that have been on these hunts and make the calls, do not be sold by a fancy website or brochure.

Been to the "Rock" twice and had a great time Matt. Plenty of moose and some very interesting people. Not much for horn size but I believe they have the most moose per sq. mile anywhere.
I hear good things about Ont. but haven't been there. QC required 2 hunters per tag the last I checked.

PV you are right. The law demand 2 hunter for 1 moose. It's 1 moose per 2 tags.

For Ontario look up  www.northtoadventure.com  and look at White River Air they have great archery moose hunting. My group has been archery moose hunting and fishing with these guys for 27yrs now. If you contact them ask to speak to Don (father) or Dan (son) they look after the moose hunt. Top notch operation with excellent equipment and planes -  turbo otter and a turbo beaver as well. PM me with any questions you might have.
