To My BACKQUIVER!!!!!
Now don't get me wrong folks!!!!! I know that there are LOTS of differant types of quivers out there, and a bowquiver is just about the "handiest" quiver around.(just grade your bow and go) But,after almost ten years back at this "traditional" bowhunting thing,I always just seem to come right back to my backquiver. I started my bowhunting career at the ripe young age of 7 with a solid fiberglass Bear "Red Bear" recurve and 4 overspined Bear cedar arrows tipped with Razorheads riding in a backquiver across my back. Worrying every rabbit, squirrel, and woodchuck that I crossed paths with. I hunted "Big Game" my first 4 years with a 50# Bear Alaskan and a backquiver full(sometimes more full than others)of cedar arrows on my back. Then came "technoligy" LOL!!!!! Aluminium arrows, plastic vanes,screw-in broadheads(i.e.Razorheads) and the old Kwikee "suicide quivers" and eventualy a compound.....
I got back into "tradtional" bowhunting back in 1999 with the help of our fellow friend and TradGanger, Joe Skipp. When I wanted a quiver,I was set on a backquiver, but ended up buying a Selway slip-on bowquiver from Joe. It was a GREAT quiver, and I was VERY pleased with it. BUT, It wasn't a backquiver.....
I ended up buying a Wyandotte field quiver kit,and that quiver will have been riding on my back for 10 years this summer. There's just something that feels "right" about a backquiver!!!!!
Seems like I always keep coming back to my "roots".....
