turkey road kill .. almost
« on: March 27, 2009, 05:53:00 PM »
Went for drive to watch some turkeys the other day. Found some crossing the road and had two on each side. I rolled down the windows and did some unimpressive gobbling for the fun of it. Had all four of 'em just going to town by the time the guy drove by me with a very funny look on his face. I was just gobblin' and laughin. I might not get this close when season gets here. Not great pics but some turkeys anyway

Had fun watching a couple of immature bald eagles too.

Now if I could just have access to this land I see these turkeys on all the time I would be set.

I know to most people turkeys are not the prettiest birds, but they sure look pretty to me.  :archer:

Anyone that doesn't think a turkey is beautiful, hasn't seen a big tom in full strut with the morning sun shining off his breast.. Way more color than any rainbow I have seen

Nice pics. I really like watching the toms and jakes walking around. I like them best when their feathers are tucked against their body.

I like looking at your pics and imagining the spot I would pick to poke an arrow.

I am heading down to Roseburg tomorrow to set up my ground blinds. I take between 6 and 8 kids out a year on the Youth Opener then it is my turn on the 15th.

Hopefully, a snuffer will find its way through the feathers and the bright shine of steel will be doused with crimson and indicate the success of a new trad guys virgin harvest.

Turkey are starting to gather up here now. I took my Harley to town yesterday and just about caught a gobbler in the face. I saw several hens and gobblers cross the road ahead. I was busy looking at the birds on the left when the rest of the group crossed from the right. Just about had a face full of big bird!!  :scared:   I thought dodging deer was hard. They don't have nothing on the turkey.  :readit:   CK
