Hi all,
Just wanting some info on the El Grande Grizzly head as I'm sure I read somewhere about the good doc touching up these heads some to get better performance?
Any helpers?

Al,
use the search function, bud. You will find so many threads to review it isn't funny!
PM me with questions, I'll try to help as well.

Hey Al,
PM Ron Swartz at KME.....he's the man that taught me how to modify the tips on the El Grande's. Give him a shout.

Hi Al,
My understanding on the 190 is he knocks the angle down to 25 degrees and narrows them to about an inch total cutting width. He ends up with a head around 170 grains by doing so. That's just by memory, I believe the details are in one of the Ashby reports linked to this site.

Al after several attempts my 190's ended up looking very similar to 160's...so i just ended up using 160's ! great heads when i eventually learnt how to get them sharpened properly. the last large hog i took was dropped in its tracks with a spine shot that....looked like a cleaver had gone through. whilst i'd never intentionally take , nor advocate a spine shot the results from this head were very impressive.great heads!!! let us know how the modified 190 goes.....
cheers

Ben makes a great point, you can acheive very close to the same result with much less effort by simply using a standard 160. Now that the hardness on the 160's has been boosted, they are a great option.

Yeah I like the 160s, been thinking 190s but for my purposes 160s get it done. I can actually get them sharp on my own these days!!!!! LOL - once you get em there though a file will keep em shavin.
