I’ve used a number of broad heads to kill big game animals with a longbow since my first whitetail at age 12 which was 35years ago. During those 35 years hunting big game with a longbow, the one broad head that has always stood out for me as the biggest bang for the buck has been the old fashioned Grizzly. Once you get beyond the initial labor to develop a keen edge, I’ve found few, if any, other broad heads that will run as long and stay as sharp as the Grizzly. I’ve found few, if any, other two blade heads that will cut as open a hole through big game as the Grizzly. I’ve found no other three or four blade head that will whistle through big game off side shoulders as well as the Grizzly. I take shooting a well tuned arrow of proper weight and construction as a given when speaking in terms of terminal performance on big game animals. I take shooting a sharp broad head as a given when speaking in terms of terminal performance on big game animals. But, I do not take broad head design, construction, or material as a given when speaking in terms of terminal performance. Because, during those 35years I’ve had a number of other broad heads that did not hold an edge in a back quiver, did not hold an edge going through big game, did not hold up to repeated use, or did not hold together when striking game. With a Grizzly, I’ve never had such issues as they have always performed well giving me much service.
Best,
Daddy Bear
