New from Firefly Bows - The Route 66 (and that's not all)!
« on: April 19, 2009, 06:52:00 PM »
Hello Trad Gang,

Jim Jones at Firefly Bows has been very busy, here's what he's come up with.

First of all Jim has a new bow, it's called the "Route 66".  The Route 66 utilizes Jim's proven limb design and alignment system, but features a special low grip riser.  The Route 66 should be just the ticket for those who prefer a more traditional longbow feel, but with the convenience of a take down and the well known smoooooth performance of the Firefly.

Here's a look:

The bow pictured is the new Route 66, but that's not all.  It is also the new "Firefly FS".  Previous FS Fireflies featured black risers, the new FS can be had in either brown or gray actionwood with solid glass on the limbs.  As you can see Jim's actionwood riser is pleasing to the eye, yet very strong, tough and rugged for the toughest of hunting conditions.

Here's a look at the bow strung, I love the graceful lines of the Firefly.

The 2009 Firefly FS sells for $549.  The bow pictured is in stock here at Braveheart and looking for a good home, it's 62" AMO and 49# at 28".

There's still another new feature on this bow, I'll post and show you in a bit.

Also now available from Firefly is Jim's new "Firecore" limb core.  The Firecore is not a magic bullet, it is however a unique combination of core woods that work wonderfully well in the Firefly limb design and look great doing it.

I have a new Firefly FS in gray actionwood with the new Firecore myself and man is it a shooter!   :D

Here's a look a the Firecore.

The alternating colored limb lamination you can see is the Firecore.

Here's a side view of the Firecore.

Good work Jim!

Steve, you guessed it.  The grip in the web part of your hand is very similar to other Fireflies, but of course the lower portion is the low grip.

The bow pictured is an "FS" but these bows are also available in the "FX" version with your choice of riser woods, cores and veneers.  Jim will make most anything within reason.

These truly are great bows.  Jim brought the Route 66 prototype riser to the Michigan bunny stomp.  It had a great feel to it that's for sure.  He didnt have limbs mounted to it so couldn't shoot it but the riser sure did fit the hand nice!!
