I love FMJ's, but the cost on them is
The major benefit of the FMJ's is the ease of removal from 3D targets. Everything else about them can be matched with other arrows -
Consider the Beman MFX series, both the Traditional and Team RealTree series both weight in at 10.2gpi, the same as the FMJ's of comparible spine, cost much less, and are completely carbon - making it easier to check for microcracks or shaft damage than an aluminum coated shaft.
I shoot 400gr MFX's with a 150gr tip plus standard insert (18gr) from my 60# RER and they fly like laser beams.
If you're interested in a carbon/aluminum arrow without necessarily breaking the bank, GoldTip offers the CAA series, and I believe Blackhawk used to have an aluminum/carbon series also.
