Zwickey Delta's on Carbon's
« on: April 21, 2009, 08:04:00 PM »
I shot Zwickey Delta's for years with aluminums and Flitemate adapters. With the bows and weights I was shooting 2315's were the shafts of choice. Reluctantly made the switch to carbon's a few years back. Best thing I've ever done, went Magnus Stingers on the business end. I'd like to go back to Zwickey Delta's but not sure how they would match up with 5575 Goldtips. Looking at going with 100 gr screw in adapters and Delta's glued on. The Zwickey's leave a super blood trail and are so easy to sharpen. Is the taper ok for the small carbons or are they just too big? I know they say the new "No Mercy" head is designed for the smaller carbon shafts but will the Delta work without limiting penetration?

Should have added I'd like to get higher FOC without going with heavy inserts. The Delta's with steel adapters should get me around 19/20 % FOC with a 530 gr arrow. As I've gotten older I'm in the 45# to 50# pound range vs 55# to 60# in my younger years.

I have shot the Delta with 75gr. broadhead adapters mounted on Beman/Easton 400 carbons with 100 gr. brass adapters from 48#-53# bows with great results. Total arrow weight is just a bit over 600 grains. I think that the 400 is comparable to the GT 55/75(?). I believe that the Delta will open a big enough gash that the shaft will just follow right on thru! Good Luck-Mike

I use the little BAR flange rings that sorta foot the end of the carbon shaft and flair out to the back of the screw-in adapters.
I'm shooting Ace Standards and MAgnus I's on steel adapters. Work fine for me on MFX carbons.

Stay sharp, Kenny.

I shoot the Deltas with a 125 steel adapter, on a Arrow Dynamics shaft, and they fly great.
