my best friend on earth, Ryan, is a Specialist in a Stryker Unit at Ft. Lewis, his unit is going to kandahar, afganistan on july 15th. he is leaving 2 children behind.
for a going away present i am building him this Yew Longbow. it is right around #75 @ 28" but is not quite finished yet. (final tillering.)
if you like being free, thank the servicemen and women who make it possible, because they leave behind everything they care about to keep us safe!

Hardest thing I ever did was turn around and walk away from my family to board a flight. I knew I would be gone for a year before I would see them again.
I've known others that have been gone longer and more often but it never got easier. There are thousands more that I don't know that have done the same thing.
People like you that do just a little extra really boosted my moral. I'm sure that bow will mean a whole lot to him.
On the lighter side I was looking at the 1st photo and was wondering if you have a new recipe for hotdogs?
