What material has worked out best for you with tying on nocking points? I'm looking for something that's durable and adjustable until the height is set.

Curtis Haden

One of the things that Bobby Graham always did, was to send (along with your new string) a 10-12" long piece of FF string material to use for a tie-on nocking point.  That's the best stuff I've found yet...

I tried B-50 but wanted to hear more about the FF. Thanks.

Spider wire braided fishing line or a piece of an old string.

Come to think of it, the stuff Bobby always sent may have been B50.  I never took the time to tie an "adjustable" nock point.  Just used a half-knot, wrap a couple times, nuther half-knot, etc.  I always put a little dab of CA glue on it when I get it to the right size, and mine have lasted a long time.

Back to the "adjustable" part... I use waxed dental floss when tuning.  Tie one off, tune, cut if off if adjustments are needed, and another is quick and easy.  Once a new string is settled in and I've got it where I want it, then i switch to the string material.  FWIW...

I use B50. Tie a half hitch then alternate some overhand knots and tie off with a square not and burn the ends off with a lighter. Twists up and down the serving no problem.

I made mine too big with B-50 and it bunched up when twisting up the serving. I just need to try it another time or two. The temporary dental floss is a good idea too. I never thought of Spider Wire and it's in my tackle box.

Bjorn

I use dental floss and when the location is permanent a drop of Superglue will make it good for a very long time.

I use dental floss also, both waxed and unwaxed. Artificial sinew should work well too. Not much difference than waxed dental floss.

I use the BCY nock point tying thread.
