You want a cheap fish arrow. Buy one of those 5/16" fiberglass poles they sell at Home Depot, and drill a hole in the back. Since they usually have a taper on one end, gluing on a nock and point is all you need to do to create a cheap "commercial" fiberglass arrow...

Better yet Don't Glue a nock on - Just cut a self nock.  More durable because it CAN'T pop off when you hit a rock and talk about cheap, Self nocks are FREE!!

take some advice from someone who has bowfished their fair share.....If you dont use the proper setup, bowfishing is VERY dangerous! You dont just take an arrow and tie some string to it on a reel. Thats a good way to lose an eye in a hurry. Fiberglass is the only way to go as far as arrow material because nothing else will take the beating. You MUST use a safety slide of some sorts, that keeps your line in front of your riser at ALL times!!! If you just tie line to the back of the arrow, that means it is coming behind your riser and reel and everything else. Sooner or later it WILL tangle on something and come flying back...aimed right at your head. Far as nocks go. I say spend the pennies and taper for plastic nocks. Just keep a spare in your pocket. If you break a self nock....which you would mostly likely do by running over the arrow with the boat while the arrow is stuck in the mud...then you are SOL without a saw to cut a new one. Just my .02
yall be careful

Kyle said it right. I knew a guy that got killed by an arrow coming right back at him, right through his head.

I have to agree with Kyle & Coldsteel0812.Using makeshift equipment is a quick way to the E.R. (if you're lucky). I just checked Kustom King, a sponsor, & a set up fish arrow is $10 & change all you need to add is a slide. The Dr. bills will be way higher!3-Rivers,also a sponsor, has bare fishing shafts from $2.98-4.98. Frank
